与常用的DNP-X酸（＃2020）相比，DNP-PEG4酸具有更好的水溶性。它是可被抗DNP抗体识别的探针的胺反应性构建基块。它也可以用作与Trp或Tyr配对的出色的胺反应性FRET淬灭剂。在EDC和DCC存在下，其末端羧基容易与伯胺反应形成稳定的酰胺键。亲水性PEG接头增加了化合物在水性介质中的水溶性。
